About Lauren Garfield, M.P.H., Ph.D.

Lauren Garfield is a medical writer and health research consultant in St. Louis, MO.  She received both an M.P.H. in Epidemiology and a Ph.D. in Public Health Studies with a concentration in Health Outcomes Research from Saint Louis University School of Public Health.  She was an NHLBI Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the Department of Psychiatry at Washington University School of Medicine and a Postdoctoral Associate at The George Warren Brown School of Social Work.  Following her postdoctoral training, Lauren worked as an Outcomes Research Scientist for Mercy Virtual in St. Louis, MO.  She also does statistical consulting for Alpha StatConsult.

Lauren has significant experience conducting health outcomes research with large medical claims data sets from the VA, Medicaid and private health systems. Her primary expertise is in pharmacoepidemiology, psychiatric epidemiology, cardiovascular disease and public health. She enjoys the opportunity to learn new content areas and work on projects across the health and medical research and writing spectrum. Lauren got her start as a medical writer after completing the medical writing course offered by Nascent Medical, LLC (formerly Hitt Medical Writing).
